Dear Friends,

It is with great joy and sincere appreciation that I am announcing my candidacy for re-election to the Lakewood City Council. The last four years have gone by fast and it has truly been both a pleasure and an honor serving you and representing Ward Four. As I begin my re-election journey, I humbly ask for your support once again.

Working for you these last four years has been incredible and I would be honored to be afforded another term as your representative on City Council. I have done much work to bridge the relationships between the citizenry and city hall, and I'm proud of what I've been able to accomplish. I took seriously the input I heard from you throughout my term, and I've sought ways for the city to be both more transparent and open to your input. I'm encouraged that this new transparency has welcomed more voices into the conversation.

In these difficult economic times, I also took seriously the stewardship of your tax dollars. Not only did City Council reduce taxes, but we also increased reserves while cutting general fund expenditures. In 2007, I pledged to you that I would help guide some of our community's most important projects while trying to minimize any adverse impacts that these projects would bring. I'm proud to say that I am still guided by this same pledge.

I listened when you sought support for new recreational amenities for our youth. I listened when you expressed your support for community gardens. I listened to our newest neighbors in the Rooney Valley and effectively helped them shape the direction of their community. In my first four years I have built countless bridges between City Council and you, the people for whom it works. I pledge to you now that with another four years I will strengthen these bridges and I will seek to build new connections between us all. I ask for your support on November 1st, 2011, so that I may continue listening and serving as your voice on Lakewood City Council.

Sincerely, Adam Paul
